King Edwards School
Witley Surrey

16 Jul 2005

Over 50 delegates enjoyed the Conference, which was hosted at King Edward's School Witley for the third year.
The Conference opened with an excellent lecture from Roberto Forzoni. Roberto has worked with the England U19 National Squad and as first team coach at Crystal Palace, Brentford and Brighton. In 2001 he presented at the World Congress of Sport Psychology, and in 2004 the Football Association invited him to write their book "Psychology for Football". His presentation gave examples of how professional Clubs and International teams use sports psychology to gain maximum performance, and he demonstrated how these techniques could be used with players of all ages and abilities.
Dr Chris Cushion presented the second morning session. A leading expert on coaching and performance, he was formerly Director of Coaching with Queens Park Rangers Academy and currently works with the Fulham Academy. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy (PESP). His presentation entitled "Characteristics of Excellent Coaching Sessions" involved both an indoor theory session as well as an outdoor practical session using players from the Surrey and Sussex Elite Prep School teams.
