Spurs' steel cheers Redknapp

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes his side have developed a mental toughness as they bid for a top four slot.
Peter Crouch got both goals in the 2-0 victory against Blackburn at Ewood Park to keep the pressure on the leaders.
Redknapp said: "It was not a pretty game but one Tottenham may have lost in the past. It was a great result for us. It was a tough match but we have collected three points and kept a clean sheet away from home. I have to be pleased with that."
He continued: "It was not free-flowing football like it was in midweek against Manchester City. However we were solid at the back and the goalkeeper did well for us."
Crouch made the breakthrough in first-half stoppage-time when he headed home following a cross from Niko Kranjcar, who chased a lost cause before delivering the ball into the box.

Steve Bruce calls for Sunderland flops to adopt Manchester United-style mental toughness

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has warned his away-day flops that he will be “ruthless” in trying to develop a Manchester United-style mental toughness at his club.
Bruce, furious at four successive away defeats, believes his Jekyll-and-Hyde side should learn from the way his former side United put out a weakened team in the Champions League at Wolfsburg and still came away with an impressive 3-1 victory.
And Bruce insists that if his players can’t reach the sort of consistent standards that he learned during a glittering career at Old Trafford, they must at least try to emulate Peter Reid’s Sunderland side that finished seventh in the Premier League in 2000 and 2001.
During those two campaigns Reid’s side won 12 away games in the Premier League and drew nine, meaning they picked up points on their travels more than they lost.

Quote of the day
~ John Regis
"Talent gives people an ability to perform, but if all the guys on the line have the same amount of talent, then it's the mental strength that determines who crosses the line first. It's the person who doesn't panic under pressure that crosses the line 1st"
