BBC Radio Newcastle

Speaking with BBC Radio regarding Jonjo Shelvey’s sending off at the weekend against Tottenham in the club’s first game back in the Premier League. It’s a big fallacy that asking an ‘aggressive’ player to control their emotional temperature a little more will detract from their game. For a player to stamp on an opponent at any time is pretty disgusting; to do it when you’re club captain in the first game of thw season against 52,000 mainly Gordie fans is appalling.
A poor example to fans, disrespectful to the paying public who spend hard earned cash to see their team, contributing to the team losing the match, costing his team mates the game and bonuses and then missing more games through suspension. Jonjo, get a grip.
